Smart transition

EU-funded

The Smart Transition project strengthens manufacturing companies in Västra Götaland. The project's goal is to increase companies' ability to innovate, mainly through resource-efficient circular solutions.

Many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) find it difficult to absorb the advances generated by research and turn them into profitable business activities. We see that the interface between research and industry needs to be improved. Close collaboration between academia and industry is one way to develop this cooperation.

The project focuses on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in Västra Götaland for a smart transition. We do this by getting companies to increase circularity, digitization and new innovations. Smart transition is aimed at companies in the manufacturing industry with the construction industry as the first priority.

Manufacturing industry in dire need of circular solutions

One example in the manufacturing industry is the construction sector, which consumes large amounts of materials and thus generates a lot of waste. Here, there is a great need to get the industry to work towards a transition to circular material flows and business models. The project therefore aims to increase companies' knowledge and get them to look up to discover new opportunities.

The project is working on several activities to disseminate new knowledge for commercialization. Through action research and industrial case studies, the project promotes technology transfer and collaboration between businesses and research to increase productivity and the use of digital solutions that contribute to the circular transition.
