The City of Trollhättan is participating in the EU project ICC, which aims to establish local "green deals" for more sustainable energy use. In a ceremony at the City Hall on November 13, such an agreement was signed by the City of Trollhättan, Innovatum Science Park and the Trollhättan Business Association. The cooperation association BID Stallbacka, which represents the Stallbacka area, will also sign shortly.
On November 13, a ceremony was held in the City Hall where the City of Trollhättan, together with Innovatum Science Park and the Trollhättan Business Association, signed an agreement to strengthen the green transition. The BID Stallbacka, which represents the Stallbacka area, is also expected to sign shortly and become part of the initiative.
The agreement aims to accelerate the green transition, particularly in the Skogstorpa and Stallbacka industrial areas. It is about working together to minimize power peaks, make energy use more efficient and to achieve more locally produced energy.
- This is work that is already underway, but by participating in ICC we can get EU funding for expert advice. In addition, the possibility of obtaining EU funding for future development projects is expected to increase, which would obviously be very positive," says sustainability strategist TorBjörn Nilsson at Trollhättan Stad.
In the Skogstorpa area (Kardanvägen), the project "Fyrbodal for the flex of the future" is already underway, which is part-financed by the Swedish Energy Agency with SEK 6 million. The project is run by Innovatum Science Park in collaboration with Trollhättan Energi, Kraftstaden and University West. The main focus is on achieving more even electricity consumption and cutting power peaks by seeking innovative solutions for increased flexibility in the electricity grid. The project continues as planned but now also within the framework of the ICC. Businesses in the area will now be offered energy and climate advice, to look at opportunities for energy efficiency and local electricity production.
- We are testing solutions that have never been tried before in Sweden and probably not globally either. Previous initiatives have been directed either at individual companies or national optimizations based on price signals. Instead, we want to focus on the industrial sector - to enable sustainable growth without having to wait for expanded grid capacity," says Magnus Kuschel, Innovation Manager at Innovatum Science Park.
Stallbacka has the same challenges as Skogstorpa in terms of the limited capacity of the electricity grid. A collaborative organization, BID Stallbacka, has been formed in the area between the city of Trollhättan and the companies in the area. BID Stallbacka has started an energy group to look at ways to improve the situation. Stallbacka businesses will also be offered energy and climate advice. The agreement sets out, for Stallbacka, the goal of initiating a process to seek funding for a project on the efficient use of power and energy in the area.
The agreement is valid until the parties see the need to revise it. In addition, the agreement shall be monitored by the following indicators:
