Fyrbodal for the future of flex

Tomorrow's modern energy systems require flexible solutions! Fyrbodals kommunalförbund, Trollhättan Energi, Kraftstaden, LEVA, Högskolan Väst and Innovatum Science Park are aiming for a common goal to increase knowledge and contribute to the region's development of the energy system of the future.

Electrification is crucial for society to transition to sustainable development and create fossil-free innovation. We already know the fundamental challenges for the electricity system of the future and the need for flexibility solutions is increasing. When forecasts point to a doubling of future electricity use for Sweden, industry-dense Västra Götaland needs a tripling.

A fossil-free society means a major transition, flexibility can contribute to increased space in the electricity grid and also gives the consumer a greater opportunity to influence when and how to use the electricity, which in turn can contribute to a more energy-efficient electricity system.

The focus of the project is on three interacting parts

  • Policies and planning have a role to play in guiding, regulating and promoting different elements of the future local energy system (Governance).
  • Established industrial areas need to change - an example with proactive participants can be found in Trollhättan and the area around Kardanvägen (Brownfield).
  • Start-ups can contribute to jobs and prosperity - there is a need for concepts that utilize flexibility solutions at an early stage to scale up benefits (Greenfield).
