Marstrand, Sweden's largest and most popular guest harbor, will become an important hub for electric boats along the west coast. With its strategic location north of the Gothenburg archipelago, the port offers an ideal place for charging.
Kungälv Municipality and Kungälv Energi are installing the fast charger in Marstrand harbor and at the same time become part of the go:LEIF project's investment in an expanded charging network for more sustainable boating. The charging station is planned to be put into operation in the spring.
- "We welcome the Port of Marstrand through Kungälv Municipality and Kungälv Energi as new partners in the project and think it is fantastic that they show the will to be pioneers and support electrified boating. Marstrand is a perfect place both geographically and as a showcase in summer Sweden for the green shift," says Peter Berg, project manager for the go:LEIF project at Innovatum Science Park.
- "We are proud to contribute to sustainable boating. The fast charger also creates completely new opportunities for innovation and development in the field of electric boats in Marstrand," says Peter Alexandersson, Port Manager of Kungälv Municipality.
For the municipality, the investment is also a step in the right direction to contribute to a fossil-free Kungälv and help realize the municipality's energy plan.
Strategically good location
Madeleine Lilja at Business Region Gothenburg, agrees with Marstrand as a central location for electrified boating.
- "The fact that Marstrand is taking the initiative for electrification together with the expertise available in the municipality is a big step forward. Marstrand is a perfect place to showcase the electric boat solutions of the future, especially during the summer," she says.
