A new chapter for Kristineberg – with a focus on research, innovation, and collaboration

The sun sparkled over Gullmarsfjorden as researchers, organizations, and partners gathered at Kristineberg to mark the beginning of a new chapter for the marine research station.

During the handover ceremony, it was officially announced that the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat will take over operations at the Kristineberg Marine Research Station—with the aim of further developing the site as a strong hub for marine research, innovation, and collaboration.

“For us at Innovatum Science Park, Kristineberg is more than just a research station. It’s a place where people come together to explore the ocean’s potential—a place where ideas can be tested, collaborations can take shape, and new solutions for the blue bioeconomy can be developed in partnership with the research community, the business sector, and the public sector,” says Sonja Andrén, Innovation Manager at Innovatum Science Park.

Through various projects, we aim to help strengthen precisely this type of environment—where innovation can move from concept to reality. We view Innovatum Science Park as a long-term strategic partner in the development of Kristineberg and the innovation ecosystem that continues to emerge there.
