Kristineberg Innovation Center

Kristineberg Innovation Center

The Kristineberg Innovation Center provides small and medium-sized enterprises with access to testing and demonstration facilities in a marine environment, research expertise, and structured collaboration. This makes it easier to develop, validate, and bring new solutions closer to market within the blue bioeconomy.

Why this project?

Many small and medium-sized enterprises in the marine and maritime sectors do not have their own resources for research and development. This may be because they lack access to the right testing environments, research expertise, or the infrastructure needed to test and further develop a solution under real-world conditions.

This results in an unnecessarily long gap between the idea and the market. The Kristineberg Innovation Center addresses this need by bringing together testing facilities, expertise, and collaboration within a relevant marine environment. This gives companies the opportunity to develop and validate their solutions without having to build up the necessary capacity themselves.

Purpose and Objectives

The aim is to establish and develop a robust innovation ecosystem for the blue bioeconomy where companies and researchers can develop and validate new solutions.

The goal is to enable more innovations to be tested in real-world environments, further developed, and brought to market—thereby contributing to a more sustainable use of marine resources.

Expected effects and results

By lowering the barriers to testing and verification, the project creates better conditions for innovation in the marine sector.

This helps to ensure that more solutions can be developed and scaled up, that collaboration between research and industry is strengthened, and that Sweden takes a clearer stance in the blue bioeconomy.
