How we're electrifying boating
What began as a shared ambition grew into the go:LEIF project. Now that the project has been completed, there are concrete results, guidance documents…
Window glass is one of the highest quality glass products and requires raw materials of very pure quality. Today, the supply of such sand is limited and at the same time a non-renewable resource. Returning window glass to primary production can reduce energy consumption by up to 75% - but currently a lot of glass ends up in downgraded uses, such as insulation, where quality is lost.
The project investigates how large-scale reuse of window glass can be established while maintaining quality class. We identify business models, incentives and logistics solutions that can make reuse both profitable and sustainable.
The aim is to reduce the need for virgin raw materials, lower climate impact and create new business opportunities along the entire value chain - from glaziers and window producers to recyclers and primary producers.
