Take a look at our Impact Report!

Last updated: 2024-08-06 16:20

Long-term and bold investments pay off! This is the message from our CEO Linda Bohlin Trajkovski. Our Impact Report presents the results of our activities in the form of new investments, jobs and innovations that reduce environmental impact.

- We live in a time when we are often reminded of the importance of a strong and resilient society. Innovatum Science Park is helping to build just that. Through this report, we want to show decision-makers why it is important to invest in the work of science parks and incubators," says Linda Bohlin Trajkovski.

Paving the way for a unique venture in additive manufacturing

One example in the report is GKN Aerospace's investment in a new factory for additive manufacturing, which became world news at the beginning of the year. This means securing research, development and production in Sweden for a long time to come, with major environmental benefits in sight.

- "We have worked for many years to strengthen the Production Technology Center (PTC) with equipment linked to additive manufacturing. PTC is today a world-leading test and demo environment where new technologies are developed and our work has clearly contributed to the investments that GKN is now making, Linda continues.

The incubator - a breeding ground for socially important innovations

The incubator, which has been named one of the country's "excellent incubators" by Vinnova, has been the breeding ground for a number of socially important innovations. The report highlights, among others, the startup Chassis Autonomy, whose control system paves the way for safe self-driving vehicles.

The energy technology company Liquid Wind, which started its journey at Innovatum Science Park, is also recognized. 2023 was a breakthrough year for the company with a groundbreaking for the Flagship One facility. And in December, it was announced that Bill Gates' climate fund, in collaboration with the EU and the European Investment Bank, is investing more than SEK 1.3 billion in the venture.

-When we compile the figures for 2023, we see that the start-up companies that are, or have been part of our incubator, have created 433 jobs and have a turnover of SEK 915 million.

Development projects make a difference for businesses

The project activities at Innovatum Science Park provide both competitiveness and increased sustainability to small and medium-sized enterprises in Västra Götaland.

During the year, 48 development projects were carried out with a turnover of 120 million, including 47 million in EU funds. For example, over a hundred companies received coaching to reduce their energy consumption through Omställningslyftet. And in the blue bioeconomy, a decisive step was taken with a blue biorefinery that allows us to utilize and create higher value from residual streams from the fishing industry, among others.
