Innovatum Science Park releases new Impact Report

Innovatum Science Park Impact Report for 2024

We are facing major societal challenges, but we are also equipped to meet them. The solution is collaboration, innovation and courage. This is the message from our CEO Linda Bohlin Trajkovski in the new Impact Report that has now been released.

- Through our Impact Report, we want to show decision-makers why it is important to invest in the work of science parks and incubators. We offer results from 2024 but also a look back over the 25 years since our activities were founded," says Linda Bohlin Trajkovski.

Additive manufacturing creates 1000 new jobs

One example highlighted in the report is GKN Aerospace's new world-unique additive manufacturing factory, which opened in Trollhättan in 2024. The factory is expected to create up to 200 new jobs per year for five years, contributing to major environmental benefits and securing research, development and production in Sweden.

-This is a fantastic development for both the region and Sweden! The new factory is made possible thanks to long-term collaboration between industry and academia, where the Production Technology Center has played an important role," says Linda.

Half a billion to transform shipping

The incubator, which is designated as an "incubator of excellence" by Vinnova, and is the West Swedish node for the ESA-BIC space program, has been the breeding ground for a number of innovations that have created both jobs and sustainable solutions.

The report highlights, among other things, the energy technology company Liquid Wind, which before the end of the year secured half a billion SEK in one of the largest financing rounds for electrofuel in Europe in 2024.

TERASi is another example. The company, which enables the wireless networks of the future, signed a development agreement with ESA in 2024, received millions of euros in funding from Vinnova and more than increased its turnover tenfold.

"Innovative start-ups are important for solving the societal challenges of the future. In 2024, the entrepreneurs in the incubator attracted 60 million in external capital, which creates the conditions for growth, more jobs and that the innovations benefit more people," Linda continues.

38 development projects accelerating the transition

Innovatum Science Park runs a range of innovation projects that make the region's companies competitive and accelerate the transition in sustainable industry, energy and the blue bioeconomy. In 2024, 38 development projects were carried out with a total turnover of EUR 104 million, including EUR 35 million in EU funding.

The report highlights, among other things, the Tillverka i Trä network and the Blue Food Center as successful examples that have created an impact. The reader also learns about several efforts made to help society switch to renewable energy.

"The industry's transition is entirely dependent on access to fossil-free electricity and sufficient power. One of the most important keys to solving the energy challenge is to take a holistic approach and bring together many actors with different types of solutions, which we do in several of our projects," concludes Linda.
