Green and blue nutrition meet at Ödevata Farm Hotel

Last updated: 2025-10-22 14:10

Two days in Småland gave new perspectives on how green and blue industries can meet. During a study tour organized by the Green Cluster, representatives from Innovatum Science Park visited Ödevata Farm Hotel - a place that has become a living example of circular transition.

It develops solutions that make use of resources at several stages. For example, biochar is used to purify water, sequester carbon dioxide and improve the environment for fish farming. Biochar becomes part of the cycle between land and aquatic farming - showing how small-scale initiatives can contribute to big changes.

- Ödevata has been working with biochar for a long time and they have a great breadth in what they use the carbon for. Seeing both the production of biochar and simple methods for how it can be loaded with nutrients from the fish farm was one of the reasons for the trip for me. This is an area of use we plan to scale up on a larger scale at the fish farm at Nuntorp," says Fredrik Grund, project manager at Innovatum Science Park.

The trip was organized by the Green Cluster and brought together participants from different parts of the country - from farmers to folk high school students - to explore together how the sustainable systems of the future can be built.
