Growing interest in Automation Day

Last updated: 2022-12-19 11:27

Automation Day is a place for industry, suppliers and researchers from the manufacturing industry to meet and network in a mix of seminars, exhibitors and presentations. Automation Day 2022 had a record number of registrations and attracted visitors from both Sweden and Norway.

The annual event Automation Day has attracted visitors from technology companies, industry, researchers and university students since 2014. "Automation Day is the perfect combination of interesting lectures and seminars together with relevant exhibitors and the opportunity to make contacts," says Jan Hultman from Klosser Innovasjon AS, who sees Automation Day and the work done to promote networking and exchange of experiences between companies as a role model his own company is happy to learn from. Klosser Innovasjon is a strong driving force for development and innovation in Norway.

Highlights from Automation Day 2022

An arena for collaboration

Sweden has good conditions for automated production, with the technical prerequisites in the form of a well-developed industry and world-leading research in robotics and automation. A more widespread automation of Swedish industry is the way to increased productivity and greater efficiency.
That is why Automation Day is an important event, which in comparison with a regular technology fair offers an arena where like-minded people with an interest in automation and smart technology solutions can meet and exchange experiences and make essential business contacts
The atmosphere is high in the Production Technology Center where about 20 exhibitors showcase a wonderful mix of robots, automation equipment, new products, services and concepts for skills development to be inspired by. In the mingle, industry colleagues, suppliers, students and researchers meet to discuss and take part in new technology solutions and services

- Even though there are not many builders here, there are many who have a machine mindset and understand the logic of modularization, it's nice to see that there is an interest, says Patrik Jensen at Inwoco AB, which uses renewable components to build wall modules prepared for disassembly and reuse.

In the booth next to Inwoco we find Per Schjelderup from Camatec, which supplies the machines for Inwoco's production.

- "This is the first time we have participated in Automaton Day," says Per, site manager at Camatec Stockholm. It is thanks to this gang (Inwoco) that we have joined the network Tillverka i Trä and Produktionstekniskt Centrum. I think it's fun to be here and meet other exhibitors and new potential customers.

One of the exhibitors was the Production Technology Center's newest member, SSP North AB, which offers security systems.

 - It is a fantastic opportunity to be here, I have already made contact with both the University of West and Gothenburg Technical College who want to use our products in their education, says Mats Linger, CEO SSP North AB.

Mix of seminars and demonstrations

Through a dozen seminars, current challenges and trends in the manufacturing industry are highlighted. Representatives from Scandia Elevator, KUKA, Randec Robotics, Göteborgs Tekniska College, Inwoco and Väderstad AB, among others, give inspiring lectures on several highly topical issues. For example, how the use of welding robots has resulted in a better working environment and halved cycle times. Prerequisites for successful automation, both for large and small companies. Safety in human-robot interaction, as workplaces where humans and robots work together are increasing in Swedish industry.

- Automation Day confirms its role as a leading gathering place for those interested in automation, regardless of industry or company size. The large response with more than 300 registered is incredibly positive and triggers the planning of Automation Day 2023, summarizes Jan Oscarsson, project manager for Automation Day, Innovatum Science Park

The Automation Day was led by moderator Karin Stenlund from Fyrbodals Kommunalförbund. The event was organized by Innovatum Science Park, University West and IUC West. The Automation Day could be followed both on site at the Innovatum area and online.
