Elflexibel Industri Boosts the Competitiveness of Industry
Elflexibel Industri aims to boost the industry’s competitiveness – Innovatum Science Park is one of the main partners. The electrification of Swedish industry is moving quickly,…
In Västra Götaland, an exciting pilot project is now starting in which several actors, such as RISE, Region Västra Götaland, Göteborg Energi and the City of Gothenburg, are trying out a new idea - reverse auction. It works simply, different actors compete to make energy efficiency improvements, and the solution that is most affordable wins.
This is the first project of its kind in Sweden. The aim is to show how reverse auctions can become a new way to drive major energy savings. The project learns from successes in other countries, such as Switzerland and Portugal, and adapts the ideas to Swedish conditions. If successful, the project could spread throughout Sweden and contribute to sustainable solutions for the energy system.
The model will first be tested in simulations and through practical experiments. The goal is to develop a solution that works in reality. The project is also a chance for participants to learn more about innovative ways of working with energy efficiency.
It is not just about reducing energy use. The project also wants to create cooperation between different actors and inspire more people to get involved in energy efficiency. The competition element means that even those who are not directly involved in the project can become interested. The result? More initiatives that together make a big difference.
Sweden can release up to 25 TWh of electricity by 2030 - almost twice as much as a Swedish nuclear reactor produces in a year. But without new tools, we will not get there. The project in Västra Götaland is therefore more than a test. It is an important part of Sweden reaching its energy and climate goals.
The future requires fast and smart solutions. With this project, Sweden can lead the way and make energy efficiency an important part of climate action.
