Sunsurf Solar - where sun meets water
In 2020, when Martin Ögård and Marc Montgomery combined their knowledge of engineering and environmental science, the start-up Sunsurf Solar was born, and has been part of our incubator since 2022. The business idea? Smart solar modules on water. The goal? To become an important piece of the puzzle in Sweden's green transition.
When solar cells get too hot, their efficiency drops dramatically. Even on a sunny summer day, you can't get the maximum output. Sunsurf Solar places solar cells on water to provide a cooling effect and thus increase efficiency even on the hottest days of the year.
Placing solar cells on water not only increases power output. It also saves precious water, as the floating module prevents the sun's rays from reaching the water surface.
