What can the wood industry gain from AR and VR technologies?

How can the wood industry benefit from Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies? Could they streamline work in production environments and facilitate the training of new staff?

These are questions that are being investigated by University West's visiting professor Thomas Pederson together with a PhD student in the project Tillverka i Trä. To begin with, they will take a closer look at the manufacture of roof trusses.

- For example, AR-based technology can create X-ray vision that allows you to see cables that are otherwise invisible inside walls. You can also see digital drawings directly in front of your eyes instead of having to look at paper drawings," says Thomas Pederson.
