The housing company Eidar from Trollhättan is the first municipal housing company in the country to offer car sharing with its own cars. The car-sharing service they have chosen comes from the start-up company Ezeride, which is supported by Innovatum Science Park's incubator.

 - We are very happy that Eidar is investing in car sharing with us. It is a smart solution to use our car sharing service for company cars outside working hours. It creates good accessibility and economic sustainability, which provides good conditions for creating a successful car sharing service, says John Olausson CEO of Ezeride.

Eidar wants to give its tenants and staff the opportunity to rent some of the company's electric cars after working hours, as the cars otherwise just sit unused. Eidar sees this as an extended service to its tenants and an opportunity for households without their own car to facilitate shopping, running errands or going on a weekend trip. For households with a car, the car pool can also be a good complement.

 - A car means freedom, and with this we make that freedom possible without having to take on the cost that it actually means to own a car. Our car pool is an opportunity to simplify everyday life, quite simply," says Owe Lång, Finance and IT Manager at Eidar.

Eidar already offers access to car pooling in some of its areas, but has long had the idea of also offering tenants and staff the opportunity to rent the company's own cars during times when the cars are not in use. Eidar has trained and ensured that they comply with all the requirements of the Swedish Transport Administration to be able to run this business. Discussions about a car sharing service have been held with NEVS and in connection with NEVS becoming a partner in Ezeride, their car sharing service Ezeride Share will be used.

 - We find that many housing companies look favorably on this type of sustainable initiative where a car pool can go from being just a cost to instead utilize existing resources that at the same time create extra value for the residents, Thomas Axelsson, Business Strategist NEVS.

Eidar and Ezeride share the view that car sharing is part of the solution to creating a more sustainable society and reducing car traffic in inner cities.

Ezeride was founded in Trollhättan in 2020 and has been part of Innovatum Science Park's startup incubator since summer 2020.
