The recruitment process in football often takes a long time and requires the right contacts or agents. Now, football professional Jonas Björk is launching the digital platform WorldFootballPlayer to help players and clubs below the elite level to match globally without intermediaries.
- If you are not a professional footballer and have contacts, it is incredibly difficult to find the right person without agents. I want to help football players avoid paying expensive intermediaries and have a greater opportunity to get in touch with the right person, at the right club. The goal is to open up the world of football and make it a little easier and better," says founder Jonas Björk.
Even before the launch, around 1000 players were queuing up to create accounts on WorldFootballPlayer .
Big challenge for clubs too
Globally, there are 265 million registered football players. Only 130 000 of them are considered professional. Recruitment challenges at the semi-professional level are not limited to players, but also affect clubs.
Among the clubs that have already registered accounts are Ljungskile SK, Säffle SK, IK Rössö Uddevalla and IK Kongahälla. A world-leading agency has also recently been signed.
- The platform facilitates and simplifies recruitment work for us as a club towards meeting the right players! The platform gives us a broad base of players from both Sweden, but also in the world, says Linus Carlström from IK Kongahälla.
As a coach for 15 years, Jonas is familiar with the challenges faced by clubs.
- Both I and many coaches with me receive regular requests via social media from players from all over the world. Unfortunately, it is often that the club's needs and the player's profile do not match and a lot of time is then spent unnecessarily from both parties, Jonas continues.
