By strengthening municipalities' energy planning, the IN-PLAN project will contribute to better conditions for faster achievement of a climate-neutral future both in Sweden and in Europe. The Swedish municipalities participating in the project will be able to improve their energy plans both in strategy and implementation.
IN-PLAN is an EU project focusing on future energy planning. West Sweden Energy Agency is leading the Swedish part of the project, which includes Borås, Mölndal and Trollhättan municipalities. In total, about ten West Swedish municipalities are expected to participate, all of which are at different stages of their energy planning work - some are in the planning phase while others are about to start implementation.
The energy transition requires greater collaboration and consensus, but also much more integrated spatial planning. The energy transition has a major impact on land use, buildings, transportation, industry and infrastructure for electricity and heat. The IN-PLAN project aims to develop, test and implement support structures that strengthen municipalities and regions in their work on energy transition in collaboration with urban planning. In the long term, this can lead to increased amounts of renewable energy, more secure access to energy for existing and new companies, and better collaboration between key players in the energy system.
The project is carried out in cooperation with European partners and one of its objectives is to capitalize on each other's strengths and find common solutions to current and future energy challenges.
