REC - Reman Excellence Cluster will lay the foundation for a strategic collaborative environment where industry, research and innovation systems meet and together strengthen Swedish competitiveness. The feasibility study is the start of an initiative to make Sweden a world leader in sustainable, data-driven and circular remanufacturing.
Remanufacturing is an important part of the transition to a more resilient and resource-efficient industry. By extending life cycles, reusing components and improving the quality of existing products, companies can both reduce climate impact and cut costs, while reducing dependence on new raw materials. It's not just about technology - it's also about business models, logistics solutions, standards and skills.
The aim of the feasibility study is to identify needs, actors and challenges, and to identify the actions required to establish a cluster of excellence with international impact. The work focuses on industrial opportunities, market potential, skills needs and how research and innovation can accelerate development.
The goal: An internationally leading cluster
The goal is for REC to be a world-leading cluster with strong links to industrial applications, pioneering technologies and export-driven growth. Success requires broad collaboration between companies, academia and innovation environments, as well as access to test beds, networks and strategic innovation support. By 2035, the cluster will have:
- Exponential export growth
- Strong link to research, innovation and industrial application
- Pioneering technologies and world-leading skills
