Childlife helps parents collect memories of their children's childhood

Last updated: 2022-02-09 12:00

With more than 12,000 photos of children unorganized on her mobile phone, Emma, a nurse at the child health centre, had an idea for an app. She is now launching Childlife, which helps parents collect pictures, memories and documentation about their child's development. The app also functions as a digital BVC book and contains tips on parenting.

- There are many pregnancy apps on the market, but few that follow the child's development as they grow up. I myself lacked a structured way to save pictures and be able to link them to different events and memories, such as the children's first steps or when they learned to ride a bike. It's never too late to start documenting and Childlife makes it easy and accessible," says Emma Lundgren, CEO and founder of Childlife.

Emma is a mother of four herself, and in her work as a district nurse at a child health center, she has followed families closely for many years. She has used this experience in the design of the app.

Images, advice and digital journal

- Childlife contains three parts: documentation of pictures and memories, the parenting check that gives you tips and advice, but also the journal where you can document weight, height and vaccinations. Perfect if you forget or lose the BVC book, which is very common.

Emma's team also includes Per Möllborg, a consultant in pediatric health care, who provides quality assurance and helps develop advice and recommendations.

Startup at the incubator

The idea behind Childlife was born several years ago and when Emma decided to invest, she applied to the incubator at Innovatum Science Park to get advice and help with the business issues. The business developers saw great potential in the idea and Childlife is now a startup in the incubator.

- Childlife stands out among the apps available on the market today and fills a confirmed need among both parents and children who want to share pictures and milestones from growing up. "Emma has managed to build a strong team with a pediatric consultant and two in-house developers. This makes them agile in their development, which is necessary to succeed as an app company," says Frida Jägerbrand, who is an entrepreneur herself and the company's business coach at Innovatum Science Park.

Childlife card facts

The Childlife app is free and available for download on the App Store and Google Play. The app currently contains the following functions:

Save pictures, memories and milestones
Helps you organize your child's memories, e.g. first smile, first tooth, drawings or when your child learned to ride a bike.

Journal directly in your mobile
Document height and weight curves and get clear curves. Save which vaccinations your child has had and when. You also get information about when different vaccines should be taken.

Tips and advice in the parental check
BVC follows up milestones around your child's development. All these are available in Childlife and you get an overview of when your child should be able to do different things based on their age.

For future updates, additional functionality will be added, including the ability to easily convert your digital documentation into a physical children's book.
