Innovatum Science Park and the Swedish Security and Defense Industry Association (SOFF) are launching a partnership aimed at strengthening the link between innovative companies and specific needs in the defense and security sectors. The focus is on so-called dual-use technology—technology that can be used for both civilian and defense purposes.
The backdrop is a changing global landscape in which demands for preparedness, robust supply chains, and technological development are on the rise. Meeting these needs requires new solutions—but also new ways to connect innovation with established players.
Innovatum Science Park’s accelerator program is designed for companies developing technologies with both civilian and security-related applications. The program provides access to test beds, industrial environments, and strategic partners in both the private sector and the defense industry.
“We’re seeing a clear increase in interest in dual-use technologies—those that can be used in both civilian and defense applications. At the same time, many companies lack the right channels to access these markets.” “Through our partnership with SOFF, we can bridge that gap and give our companies better opportunities to navigate the market and reach out with their solutions,” says Frida Finnman, Head of Incubation & Acceleration at Innovatum Science Park.
Through this partnership, companies in Innovatum Science Park’s incubator and accelerator will gain access to SOFF’s network, activities, and international platforms. Specifically, this means:
– a better understanding of market needs and requirements
– connections with established companies in the defense and security sector
– the opportunity to identify relevant applications and business opportunities
SOFF also contributes to knowledge-building initiatives, such as lectures and workshops, and facilitates so-called “reverse introductions,” in which member companies are matched with innovative firms.
“The security of our society has a great need for new technology and new perspectives. Innovative potential is often found in smaller companies, but they need the right opportunities to become relevant in our sector. Through our collaboration with Innovatum Science Park, we are creating better conditions for this,” says Robert Limmergård, Secretary General of SOFF.
This collaboration is part of a broader initiative by Innovatum Science Park, aimed at strengthening innovation in areas that contribute to a more resilient and sustainable society, where cooperation between civilian and military actors is becoming increasingly important.
SOFF, the Association of Security and Defense Companies, is the trade association for companies operating in the fields of cyber defense, public safety, and defense in Sweden. The association brings together member companies ranging from small technology firms to larger enterprises and represents the sector in national and international forums.
