Lillemor Lindberg. Innovatum Science Park

Lillemor Lindberg is an experienced employee at Innovatum Science Park. In recent years, she has increasingly focused on the sea and its opportunities and today she works as an innovation leader for maritime industries.

What do you do at work?
- I connect companies in maritime industries, large and small, that need to know about each other to develop. But I also provide other skills in areas such as research. In addition, I help to find ways to the right authorities and financiers. This often creates exciting innovative collaborative projects that provide both growth and increased knowledge.
- Sometimes I hold workshops. For example, we invited researchers to talk about the excellent properties of algae, which added knowledge and created business benefits for companies working with algae products.

What will our relationship with the ocean look like in 20 years?
- Our sustainable food production has moved onto land. Here, fish, shellfish and marine plants are grown in symbiotic systems and under controlled conditions that do not cause any negative side effects. We have also found more smart innovations from the sea, such as new materials, energy systems and health products.
- However, it is very difficult to predict how the sea is doing. Right now, a lot of things are going the wrong way because of climate change and pollution. Even though we have a cleaner ocean in our region, it looks really bad in other parts of the world.

Why do you do what you do?
- I want to do something that matters for the future, so that we can live in a better world. Here I feel that I am a small piece of the puzzle that contributes to the big picture.
- At Innovatum Science Park, I often get the chance to say yes when I see that we can be involved and make a difference. At the same time, I love meeting people, which I get a great opportunity to do in my job.

Describe yourself and your strengths.
- I am extremely curious, driven and like challenges. The more difficult the challenge, the more I am triggered. I'm also very stubborn, but I have no problem letting go of an idea if I see that it doesn't hold up. And I find it incredibly inspiring to be involved when things are kicked off.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
- Sport has always been an important part of my life. I am an omnivore and have done everything from athletics, skiing and orienteering to racket sports. Spending time in our beautiful nature and spending time with my wonderful family means a lot to me.
- Then I like everything that revolves around recycling. It can be anything from collecting tomato seeds and growing your own tomatoes to sewing a new product from an old piece of clothing.
