The event is organized by go:LEIF, a cross-border cooperation project aiming to pave the way for electrified recreational boating in Sweden and Norway.
- We want to drive the green transition of boating. Gothenburg is the right place, and the time is now. By bringing the industry together and showcasing the technology, we create opportunities to build both interest and infrastructure for charging," says Peter Berg, project manager at Innovatum Science Park for the go:LEIF project.
Visitors to the fair will be offered test rides on electric boats, and visitors will be able to experience boating for themselves in a silent, exhaust-free environment. The event is held in the center of Gothenburg and brings together several leading electric boat manufacturers and suppliers of electric powertrains, charging solutions and other new technologies.
- Just like the electric car, the electric boat industry has matured with reliable vehicles, developed production lines, a wide range and access to charging infrastructure. It has never been easier to choose electric power on the sea, both as a recreational and commercial boat, says Leo Ekbom from Brandt Båt.
On Monday, June 16, a technical conference will be held under the heading "The electrification of shipping - it's happening here and now!". Ports, municipalities, energy companies, researchers and industry players will meet to exchange experiences and discuss the next steps in the transition.
The program covers everything from the state of technology in Europe to new user behaviors and local examples from West Coast ports. The Swedish Transport Agency presents the new boating survey and Sweboat shares its insights.
Participants include Chalmers professor Sonia Yeh, Niklas Lundin from Volvo Penta, and representatives from RISE and go:LEIF.
- We want to create an interest in the transition and show the possibilities ahead with electrification at sea," concludes Peter Berg.
