The finalists pitching at Startup Day

Herbox from Orust will make tampons easily accessible to more people. Carjoy from Trollhättan is investing in mobile vehicle technicians that are booked digitally. Hjärtblad from Uddevalla wants to ensure the availability of fresh vegetables all year round in an environmentally friendly way. The teams are now in the final of the Innovatum Science Park Startup Challenge business idea competition, which will be decided at Startup Day in Trollhättan on November 19.

The winner will receive Swedbank's entrepreneurship grant of SEK 25,000 and be admitted to the incubator at Innovatum Science Park.

- "Many of the entries have been of a high standard and it's great to have such a strong field on stage during Startup Day. All three final ideas have the potential to make a big difference to society and the entrepreneurs have shown great commitment," says Eivind Vogel-Rödin, Head of Operations at Innovatum Science Park's incubator.

Eighteen teams were invited to meet the jury
The competition, which was open for five weeks, attracted individuals and start-ups from a number of different locations in the Fyrbodal area (Uddevalla, Trollhättan, Vänersborg, Mellerud, Färgelanda, Åmål and Hunnebostrand). Among the applicants, 18 teams went on to pitch to the jury in real life. But before that, they were all offered professional pitch training to sharpen their presentations.

The jury assessed the ideas based on criteria such as market needs, degree of innovation, growth potential and contribution to sustainable development.

-"We at Swedbank think that entrepreneurship is incredibly important for growth in our local area. And to meet so many committed entrepreneurs as a jury member was incredibly fun. The competition was tough," says Tobias Hellberg, bank manager for Swedbank in Trollhättan and Vänersborg.
