- It feels fantastic! It was really fun to pitch to the jury who gave great feedback and asked incredibly good questions. Of course, it's also a little extra fun to win a prize like this, it feels great. We leave the competition with new insights, new contacts and a confirmation that we are moving in the right direction, says Mareld's co-founder Viktor Wirén.
The jury's motivation was: "As winners of the Business Challenge, you have demonstrated keen business insight, innovative thinking and a sustainable approach to growth. You have distinguished yourselves by combining strong leadership with clear objectives and a solution-oriented approach. You have proven what it takes to drive change and create long-term value, congratulations Mareld!"
All food consumed by humans has to undergo numerous tests that ensure the quality of the products. Today, the process is time-consuming and for a dairy producing 55,000 liters of milk per hour, or a packaging producer producing 82 tons of material per hour, every minute and hour counts.
Mareld has developed technology that can predict the result after just 8 hours, reducing the testing time by up to 89%.
- Through its innovative, patented technology, Mareld has the potential to revolutionize the food industry's testing processes in a way that truly promotes sustainable development. Faster, safer and with less waste! The team is well deserving of this award," says Frida Finnman, Mareld's business coach at Innovatum Science Park.
Through the three-month business development program, Mareld's co-founders Viktor Wirén and Gustav Palm have gained knowledge and experience from a network of industry leaders, investors and other entrepreneurs.
The program ended with a final pitch on 24 October, where the winners were selected based on the criteria of innovation, feasibility and market potential. Companies that have previously been part of the Business Challenge include Cellink, Budbee and Bico Group.
This is not the first time the founding team has received awards. Earlier this year, Mareld became regional winners in Sweden's largest entrepreneurial competition Venture Cup. And since a couple of weeks back, they can call themselves national winners in the category "Beyond Academic".
Since the fall of 2024, Mareld is part of our incubator in Trollhättan where they receive business development support and help with contacts and networks.
Founded in 2010 by Camilla Ljunggren, Hans Stråberg and Fredrik Hillelson, Business Challenge operates like most venture capital firms, with a large inflow of startups where the most exciting companies with the greatest potential for growth are selected. Business Challenge invests knowledge, skills and contacts through its unique network of company builders. Over 6,500 startups have applied to Business Challenge over the years and the alumni portfolio is valued at SEK 51 billion. Partners include PwC, Vinge, Nasdaq, King, Perstorp, Investor and SEB.
