As part of the Smart Transition project, the Tillverka i Trä network shared a stand with Woodbe, which won Nordbygg's gold medal for the most innovative new product last year and showcased its patented BiteLock system, which is also represented in the Innovation Cottage.
- The week at Nordbygg has been very rewarding. It was good to see the interest in both BiteLock and the innovation cabin and of course to talk to all visitors at our stand. As members of Tillverka i Trä , it was also fun to share the stand with them to show our great cooperation, says Filip Palosaari, co-owner Woodbe Engineering.
The innovation cabin - filled with innovative products
The innovation cabin aroused the curiosity of many visitors who were keen to take a look inside the cabin and be inspired by the innovative solutions. We were also able to identify several large and small players that may be of interest to the network in the future.
Innovative building systems in focus
Between the cabin's wall and ceiling, visitors can, for example, explore Woodbe's Bitelock system, which is a self-locking frame system with cross-laminated timber. The system gives a clean look as no nails or screws are used.
The windows in the cabin are mounted with the Click-In system designed by the company Fixture Systems. The windows are mounted with a new patented method that is more time-efficient & flexible than the traditional ones.
Sustainable material choices and construction techniques
On two of the interior walls, visitors can see products from the company Fire and Water. They are painted with two of their passive fire protection products, which are built into buildings to prevent fires from starting. The interior wall of the innovation cabin is also insulated with Ekolution's hemp-based insulation board.
The cabin also showcases Inwoco's "Climate Shell 4.0" prefabricated wall, which they describe as the next generation of exterior walls. The wall is built up of smaller standardized modules in the c/c 100 grid. The modules are assembled into complete wall elements in Inwocos. This gives the client flexibility in assembly and full control throughout production.
More eco-friendly solutions for the construction industry
Recoma gives new life to discarded waste and turns it into sustainable and circular building panels. Their PackWall building boards on display in the Innovation Lab are made from recycled milk cartons and composite packaging that would otherwise become waste. Nothing is added in the manufacturing process and the energy used for printing and heating comes entirely from renewable energy.
The interior wall of the Innovation Hut is lined with Wood Tubes paper studs. Made from recycled paper, they are constructed like traditional walls built with steel studs but reduce carbon emissions by around 92% in comparison. They also significantly improve the carpenter's working environment. The innovation cabin has been built with the help of Fridh&Hell's as a reliable and knowledgeable partner.
- "We've had a really good week here at Nordbygg with an exciting mix of industry professionals to network with. We have also had time to listen to a number of lectures that have been both inspiring and awakened new thoughts about reuse and circularity, says Linda Nordén, project manager at Innovatum Science Park.
Innovatum Science Park strengthens the network's presence with Tillverka i Trä presentation
On Thursday, visitors also had the pleasure of listening to a presentation by TiT. Jan Oscarsson, from Innovatum Science Park gave a presentation to over thirty participants where he described how the network works and presented our member companies that benefit from being members of the network.
He was joined on stage by Filip Palosaari from Woodbe and Lars Hartman from Verkstadsbolaget, two of TiT's member companies. They were also able to talk about their participation in the network and the benefits it has brought them.
- It's great to have the opportunity to talk about the network when so many of the industry's different facets are represented. The purpose of us is, among other things, to increase efficient construction in wood and reduce CO2 emissions from the construction sector, which we share with many of the players who are in place this week. We hope to come home with several new contacts who are interested in becoming part of Tillverka i Trä says Jan Oscarsson, Innovation Manager at Innovatum Science Park.
Tillverka i TräNetwork lunch gathers knowledge and visions
The network also took the opportunity to end the week with a network lunch for those members who wished to meet. During lunch, participants had the opportunity to look back on what has been achieved in the project, but above all, the focus was on what lies ahead.
- Great to network with Tillverka i Trä, interesting discussions came up much thanks to new faces. It is really welcomed! Says Lars Hartman, CEO of Verkstadsbolaget.
During Nordbygg, visitors were able to meet around 900 committed exhibitors and take part in 300 interesting program items. TiT is satisfied with the four days of the fair, which offered several interesting and inspiring conversations that can lead to new contacts.
This activity is part of the Smart Transition project aimed at strengthening the sustainable competitiveness of manufacturing companies in Västra Götaland.
