- "We want to be part of creating an infrastructure for the Scandinavian seafood industry where we enable better products, promote more collaborations and highlight the industry's challenges and opportunities. A meeting place like the Nordic Seafood Summit is fully in line with this work," says Joakim Petersen, CEO of Finnvacum in Sweden, one of the initiators of the Nordic Seafood Summit.
The initiative brings together the Swedish and Nordic seafood industry players, from below the surface to the pot. The fair is a unique opportunity for industry players to gain an insight into the reality, challenges and opportunities of the entire chain.
- The goal is to create more business throughout the value chain, to jointly achieve faster solutions that have an impact. There is great potential in seafood, especially in light of the fact that we need to develop more sustainable food production and increase the degree of food self-sufficiency," says Susanne Ekstedt, Innovation Manager in Blue Bioeconomy at Innovatum Science Park.
The fair expects around forty exhibitors and a large number of visitors to enjoy delicious seafood, information, competitions and panel discussions. The panels will highlight challenges and sustainability based on both wild-caught and farmed fish, but also other seafood such as algae and mussels. But above all, what is perhaps the most important function of the fair, the conversations between people.
- We who are behind the initiative see this as an opportunity to invite dialog and inspiration on how to jointly meet the sustainability challenges that exist, and at the same time create better economic conditions for the industry as a whole, says Peter Sjöholm, CEO of Västkustfisk.
The Nordic Seafood Summit will be organized annually, starting in Stockholm, at the Stockholm Waterfront on 19-20 January, to be arranged in Gothenburg in 2024. Behind the event is the seafood industry represented by, among others, Västkustfisk AB and Finnvacum in collaboration with Innovatum Science Park.
