-Being accepted to ESA-BIC is an important milestone for PARSEC. It confirms our vision and gives us the support we need to drive our mission forward. We look forward to working with ESA experts to develop our training programs and make commercial human spaceflight a reality. Our goal is to lower the threshold to space by reducing the risks, so that more people and organizations can benefit from its great potential," said Alejandro Marcano, Chief Operating Officer and co-founder.
The PARSEC team consists of thirteen experts from different parts of Europe, whose backgrounds span a range of fields critical to space exploration, such as medicine, physics, astrobiology, engineering and software development. The team also has experience from the military and space agencies such as ESA and NASA.
The space industry is growing rapidly and even companies outside the space sector are starting to see the great potential that space offers. But going into space requires extensive training and education. ESA astronauts usually undergo at least three to four years of training before going to space for the first time.
As more and more expertise and specialized skills are needed for space projects, there is a growing need for training and education among other professionals as well. This is where PARSEC comes in!
-Traditionally, astronauts are trained to perform experiments in space. We believe in the concept of training experts to perform experiments in space," continues Alejandro.
The training program developed by PARSEC is based on scientific advances and inspired by ESA and NASA methodologies. It is based on modular, flexible and cost-effective curricula offered mostly online and through short-term on-site missions.
-This approach will allow our students to become certified at their own pace, without having to interrupt their careers. We will also offer space-themed leadership retreats and 'train like an astronaut'.
The team has now been accepted into the national space incubation program ESA-BIC Sweden, which is run by Innovatum Science Park in Trollhättan together with three other incubators (Arctic Business, Uppsala Innovation and Ideon Science Park).
Through the program, PARSEC Spaceflight receives, among other things, SEK 500,000 in product development grants, access to expert help via ESA's experts and business development support via our incubator .
