In February, Breakit and the organization Bling Startup launched the Shift initiative. The vision was to connect the venture capital around Stureplan with the sharpest entrepreneurs in the city and the countryside. The background was an audit that showed that barely 2 percent of the capital ended up with entrepreneurs who had their roots in the city or the countryside.
In the first round, 150 teams advanced in the competition. Now, another round has been selected and it's time for the semi-finals, where start-ups Mounid and Smart Urine will take their place. The ultimate goal? To go all the way to the final and pitch their cases to eleven well-qualified investors.
Through a new type of connected toilet seat, the team behind SmartUrine wants to simplify urine measurements and sampling in healthcare.
With SmartUrine's toilet seat inserts, sampling is done automatically when the patient pees and the test results are sent digitally to the nurse or doctor. The goal? To save healthcare resources, provide a better patient experience while increasing the reliability of tests and contributing to better hygiene.
Dyeing accounts for a large part of the environmental impact of clothing production and requires large amounts of chemicals, water and energy. Mounid, with Ida Näslund at the helm, is developing a sustainable alternative to conventional dyes for the textile and fashion industry: an ink made from algae that is both non-toxic and fully degradable.
Mounid is one of the startup companies supported by both the incubator and our colleagues at Wargön Innovation.
